Accountant/Financial Controller

Description: Accountant/Financial Controller required for continually expanding Engineering/Manufacturing Company based in Coventry.

The successful candidate will be dealing with all aspects of financial control, Cost Accounts, Business Analysis and accounting duties for this company which currently has a £7 million turnover and preferably come from a Manufacturing/Production Engineering Company Sector.

Main purpose of this role is to control and implement the financial management system from day to day operation to all internal and external audits.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Accurately control sales, bought and nominal ledger.
  • Accurately control all cash and petty cash books.
  • Prepare the trial balance on Sage Line 50 including journal records.
  • Control all day book accounts ensuring balance and agreement with nominal ledger.
  • Prepare monthly accounting package for directors including cash flow forecast.
  • Undertake a monthly stock evaluation extracting information from factory master.
  • Produce an annual forecast each April for agreement with Directors including cash flow predictions.
  • Manage all credit control as per agreed company terms.
  • Produce sales invoices on a weekly basis and deal with any queries as necessary.
  • Complete VAT reports on a quarterly basis, ensuring VAT payments are completed in time.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping for VAT audits, internal or external.
  • Supervise weekly payroll preparation including review of all clock cards and payroll analysis to forward to external payroll administrators.
  • Prepare payroll year end with external accountant.
  • Reconcile PAYE for payment to Inland Revenue on a monthly and yearly basis.
  • Produce monthly hours using information from clock cards in preparation for monthly management reports.
  • Produce hourly rate reports on a monthly basis from Factory Master.
    * Complete annual insurance inspection reviews.
    * Assist with IT queries as necessary.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work with other employees to ensure quality and standards are maintained at all times.
  • Adhere to company quality procedures as per company quality manual ISO9000..2000
  • Ensure your working area is kept neat and tidy at all times and general housekeeping maintained to assist with health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service at all times.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries promptly, efficiently, maintaining courtesy at all times.

Additional Duties:

  • To undertake any other reasonable management request
  • To attend department meetings or staff general meetings.
  • Work flexibly where possible to support the department and across the business when needed.
  • Forward suggestions for discussion to improve processes or procedures to your line manager.
  • Ensure waste is kept to a minimum to benefit both the company and the environment.
